Omega Rose, by J.R. Marzolf follows Inga Adamsen, a neurobiology graduate student in California, whose birthday gift, a genetics test, is quietly ﬂagged by an unseen system. Soon after, a fully funded fellowship places her inside Lyndhurst Laboratories, where access controls, medical screening, and classiﬁed research exceed any academic post.

When Inga uncovers extensive records tracking her biology, movements, and family history, she vanishes and reappears in a remote medical facility operating outside public oversight. As researchers document unusual physiological traits, her father, archaeologist Einar Adamsen, searches for her across institutions that deny involvement.

At the same time, two cyber operators detect encrypted global traﬃc converging on Lyndhurst and begin tracing its source. Their paths intersect around one question: why are so many powerful systems mobilized to locate Inga Adamsen?

If you had any concerns at all about taking one of those home DNA tests just for fun, Omega Rose is going to take your worst fears to a completely diﬀerent level—and I mean that in the best way. This is a methodical techno thriller whose strengths are demonstrated in practice. Its scientiﬁc credibility thrives on detailed depictions of all the good stuﬀ, like genome sequencing protocols and induced hypoxia tests.

We are also treated to an armchair global tour, from a sealed medical compound in northern Canada to cyber operations in Mauritius and Brussels, and every single operational detail is locked down. I really like Inga, who is an intelligent and capable protagonist, the kind who understands the careful fabrication of a concealed blade, and also rides her bike to work. With a pace that keeps pushing forward and a plot that covers a lot of ground, this is a book worth the time investment. I look forward to the next two promised books of the Omega Rose Trilogy.

Omega Rose by J.R. Marzolf is a blend of science ﬁction, mystery, and adventure. The story follows Inga Ashilda Adamsen, a neurobiology graduate student whose life takes an unexpected turn as she becomes entangled in a web of danger, intrigue, and self-discovery.

The plot is intricately woven with twists and turns, exploring themes of identity, science, and power, as well as genetic mysteries and ancient civilizations. Inga's journey is compelling as she confronts her past, her unique abilities, and the consequences of experiments conducted on her.

The narrative explores themes of identity, power, and the ethical boundaries of scientiﬁc experimentation. The author skillfully blends cutting-edge science with ancient mysteries, creating a unique and imaginative read.

Inga is a compelling protagonist, balancing intelligence, determination, and vulnerability as she faces challenges that test her limits. Her relationship with her adoptive father, Einar, adds emotional depth to the story, while enigmatic ﬁgures like Nikola and Sebastian bring intrigue and action to the plot. J.R. Marzolf’s attention to character development is skillful, making it easy for readers to connect with the characters. The settings are vividly described, and the world-building is paced perfectly. Omega Rose is an excellent start to the trilogy, oﬀering an engaging blend of cutting-edge science, ancient secrets, and high-stakes adventure.

Fans of science ﬁction, thrillers, and Michael Crichton will ﬁnd much to enjoy in this imaginative and gripping tale, which leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter of Inga’s journey. It’s a ﬁve-star beginning for what’s to come.
